It’s May and it’s about time to decorate for spring. You can easily do this with some simple changes to your decor. I’m not a big fan of complicated tips, like painting, wallpaper, or redecorating an entire room for spring. While you can do that anytime, I choose to do some spring decorating that takes little time and effort.
I love simple decor ideas. Decorate for spring with fresh flowers, planters, and redecorating a mantel—things we can all do on a weekend. You won’t need much to create a fresh look to your home and definitely doesn’t require re-decorating your entire living room.
Front door charm
By adding pots of your favorite flowers and an evergreen wreath to the door, you instantly make your exterior look sweet and charming. You can go with any color you like, it doesn’t have to be a curated look. Keep it simple with only two pots, or put as many as possible on your steps for a layered look.
Rearrange decor
One of my favorite places to decorate for spring is the a buffet. If you have an old book collection or a lot of potted plants in your home, consider moving them to a buffet or coffee table. Grab some books from your bookcase, stone pieces, and some plants to create a styled space. Add potted flowers that coordinate with your existing artwork. You can do this in 20 minutes, and if this is the only space you curate, it will make a huge difference!
Mantel
Sometimes, all you need is some color on your mantel. Select a color you love, like pink or blue, shop for inexpensive vases, and add some white or marble details to brighten a space. Fill the vase with tulips or daffodils, and it’s quickly refreshed for spring. You can also do a subtle look with pink flowers and an antique piece of a similar color, or add a book or candle with the tints, tones, and shades of your chosen color so it looks purposeful.
Blankets
Yes, you can decorate for spring using practical pieces. You can add some lighter-weight blankets on the sofa. Choose a variety of blankets, though. You may have a cold spring day or a hot day requiring AC, which will cause you to be a little cool. I love a neutral color palette on a faux fur blanket and a woven blanket in any spring color you like for your living room.
Floral pillows
I love a vintage floral pillow or a fabric with a modern take on a floral pattern. Mix vintage pillows with modern furniture or modern pillows with traditional furniture. It creates a simple vignette of spring without having to go overboard. If you’re not into florals, choose colorful solid pillows. You can use pastel or saturated colors or muted earth tones but try to create a color palette of two to three colors for a spring look.
